Senzo Meyiwa murder trial to resume on Monday
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The trial of the five men accused of the murder of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa is set to resume in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday.
Proceedings will resume after a dramatic twist in the case on Wednesday with the revelation of a second docket which implicates Meyiwa's then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo as the person who pulled the trigger.
The trial was then postponed to allow defence advocate Zandile Mshololo more time to familiarise herself with the second docket.
While the second docket apparently contains the names of the people who were at the Vosloorus house where Meyiwa was shot, the NPA has only formally charged Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokozisi Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli for the goalkeeper's murder.
This as, Exhibit C is an indictment, while exhibit D is docket number two that charges the seven people who were in the house at the time that Meyiwa was killed.
They are Sello “Chicco” Twala’s son Longwe, Kelly Khumalo, Gladness Khumalo, Zandile Khumalo, Tumelo Madlala, Mthokozisi Thwala and Maggie Phiri.
Kelly Khumalo's lawyer Magdalene Moonsamy says they are still waiting on more information on the second docket.
"At this point there is no clarity on the second docket that was presented before the court, but I have requested access to the docket and I am awaiting clarity from the state prosecutor.
"I anticipate that we will be back in court soon and we will be able to observe court proceedings and be able to participate and make submissions. We have our rights being taken away by not being able to actively make submission.”
