Seven killed in Tshwane taxi crash

Seven people have been killed and eight others injured following an accident involving a minibus taxi and a car on WF Nkomo Street in Saulsville, Pretoria-West on Saturday morning.
Several of the passengers were trapped in the minibus taxi when emergency services arrived on scene.
"Upon assessment of the scene and patients, paramedics declared three male patients dead on the scene," says spokesperson for Tshwane emergency services Charles Mabaso.
"These three victims deceased were from the minibus taxi and firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate their bodies from the vehicle.
"A female patient was extricated from the car and was transported to Kalafong Hospital in a critical condition while a male patient from the same vehicle was transported with minor to moderate injuries.
"Four of the six patients transported to Kalofong Hospital in a critical condition were later declared dead bringing the total number of the deceased to seven.”
Eight others were taken to Kalafong, Steve Biko and Pretoria West hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
