Significant decrease in daily Covid-19 deaths

South Africa reported 20 Covid-19 related deaths in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday evening.
This is a significant decrease in the number of daily Covid-19 related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in March.
Gauteng and the Western Cape have each recorded 6 deaths, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape have each recorded 4 deaths.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 deaths to 15 447.

Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, show that 1 579 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed across the country with close to 15 700 tests done.
A total of 649 793 cases have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic with recoveries standing at 577 906.
The recovery rate stands at 88.9%.
