Sihle Zikalala lashes Honolulu police for lack of info on Linda Myeni death
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
KwaZulu-Natal premier Sihle Zikalala has chastised the Honolulu police department for its lack of co-operation in releasing information on the death of KZN rugby player Lindani Myeni.

Myeni was shot by police two weeks ago during an altercation with three police officers who responded to a burglary call at a house in Nuuanu in Hawaii, where Myeni lived with his wife and two children.
In a statement, Zikala said there have a number of attempts to get information released but yielded no results.
He says his family have said that police refuse to return Myeni's items which include his phone, ring and headphones.

“Judging by their attitude we can only conclude that they lack respect for Black lives," said Zikalala.
“Being Black is not a scourge. It is not a crime. But when you consider the conduct of the police in Honolulu, you begin to realise that they’re not taking this incident seriously.”
Zikalala has called on US president Joe Biden to intervene.
Myeni’s remains will arrive in Johannesburg on Friday and will be met by the provincial cabinet.
