Solidarity plans ‘taxpayer revolt’
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Trade union Solidarity will embark on what they call a "lawful tax protest" campaign on Monday.
Solidarity’s Dirk Hermann says the union wants to mobilize millions of taxpayers to take on the government.
“At this stage we see plundering of tax money, and we this must be tackled by the taxpayer. That can be done through legal means to make sure that there are investigations.
“We want to send out a message to government that taxpayers want responsibility when it comes to taxpayer money. The fact of the matter is it is not state money, it is taxpayer money.”
During the campaign, Solidarity will discuss possible legal action against SAA and former Eskom boss Brian Molefe with the head of its private prosecution unit, Advocate Gerrie Nel.

“We have different actions against Molefe. One is the legal costs that he still owes Solidarity after successful court action,” says Hermann.
