Sopa: Transforming, modernising and reindustrialising Gauteng
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Deputy Speaker in the Gauteng Legislature Uhuru Moiloa says the premier’s address will focus on three fundamental programmes.
“His focus is transforming, modernising and reindustrialising Gauteng. We expect him to in detail explain how he will transform the lives of the people of Gauteng,” he says.
Moiloa says they don’t expect any disturbances this year following reports of EFF members who were asked to leave a sitting in the Gauteng legislature for wearing “inappropriate attire” on 19 August.
Security were called into the National Assembly on Thursday during President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation Address.
EFF members were physically removed during the sitting for continuously asking the president when he would #PayBackTheMoney.
“We are in a democratic country that recognises diversity and we expect honourable members to act honourably, because that is what we have been elected for,” Moiloa says.
All eyes will be on Makhura, as he is expected to discuss issues around the controversial e-toll system and the energy crisis facing the Gauteng economy.
