South Africa records 744 new Covid-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 744 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours up to Monday evening, bringing the country’s total number of Covid-19 cases to 1 567 513.
According to the latest statement by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, a further 21 Covid-19 related deaths have also been reported.
North West, Northern Cape and Limpopo have recorded zero fatalities.
Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal recorded 1 related fatality each, the Free State 2, Mpumalanga 3, Western Cape 4 and Eastern Cape 10 deaths.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 53 757.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” said Mkhize.
To date, 10 355 196 tests have been conducted, with 18 130 of these tests completed in the last 24 hours.
The Country’s recoveries stand at 1 490 876, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
