President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on officials and councillors to desist from looting funds allocated for services of communities.
Ramaphosa made the comment during his keynote address in Mpumalanga, Middelburg on Freedom Day.
South Africa has now marked 28 years of freedom and democracy.
"Managing public resources properly and wisely and by taking a firm stand and lline against corruption. Our people are tired of corruption, they want municipalities that are going to work for them."
"They want municipalities that will provide good services, they want leaders that are not going to steal their money," he added.
Meanwhile in a separate event during a Freedom Day rally in Mamelodi, EFF Leader Julius Malema said women of South Africa are still not able to fully celebrate Freedom Day, as they're still very much oppressed.
"Let us protect the woman of South Africa, they don't know how freedom looks like. They are unemployed, we nned to protect our women because they are being killed and raped in their own households where they are suppose to be safe. This freedom will never be celebrated by any women because South Africa's declared war against women.”
