Speeding Caster Semenya set to be slapped with community service order

Olympic champion Caster Semenya is expected to be slapped with a community service order after she caught speeding in Centurion.

The 800 world champion was arrested after driving recklessly on the N14 highway in her SUV last Thursday. 

 

Semenya was granted bail of R500 at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court the following day. 

 

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng Lumka Mahanjana says Semenya will need to return to court.

 

She is expected to be slapped with a community service order at her next appearance.

 

"Caster Semenya appeared at Pretoria Magistrate’s Court for a speeding charge and the matter was postponed to 26 August for a Nicro (South African National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders) report."
