Stage 2 water restrictions implemented in Gauteng metros
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Rand Water has implemented stage 2 water restrictions in Tshwane,
Johannesburg, and Ekurhuleni.
The water restrictions come amid an increase in water consumption over the past two weeks, which the utility said has resulted in a decline of overall reservoir storage capacity from 52% to 38%.
“Rand Water further indicated that the restrictions are to ensure that their overall reservoir storage capacity is restored back to 60%,” the City of Tshwane said in a statement on Tuesday.
Stage 2 water restrictions entail prohibition of the following with immediate effect:
• No irrigation or watering of gardens with a hosepipe or irrigation systems.
• No using of a hosepipe to clean driveways or patios.
Stage 2 water restrictions also bring into effect the implementation of Level 2 water tariffs.
