Stage 4 load shedding is set to persist until Friday morning after breakdowns at the Kendal and Majuba power plants.

Eskom was set to ease load shedding to stage 2 on Thursday morning.

The embattled power utility says it will continue with planned maintenance to known risks at the Arnot, Kriel, Matimba, Matla and Camden power plants.

No clarity has been provided on the stage of load shedding expected for Saturday, but the dreaded power cuts will at this stage continue into the weekend.
