Stage 4 load shedding to persist on Thursday
Stage 4 load shedding is expected to persist on Thursday as Eskom continues to feel the pressure.
The power utility rolled out stage 2 blackouts at the start of the week but by Wednesday had upgraded to stage 4.
Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the power grid remains heavily constrained.
“Eskom wishes to confirm that due to the continuing severe generation supply constraints caused by multiple unit breakdowns as well as the additional demand as a result of the cold weather, stage 4 load shedding will resume at 08:00 until 22:00 tomorrow.
“Load shedding will persist throughout the week as Eskom teams work around the clock to return as many of these generation units to service as possible.”
He adds: “Eskom will continue to communicate the stage of load shedding should there be any further developments.”
