Still no date for resumption of vaccination campaign, says Mkhize

There is still no date for the resumption of government’s vaccination campaign, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said on Monday.
Mkhize visited the Western Cape as part of the preparations for the second phase of the vaccination programme.
Last week government decided to temporarily halt the inoculations involving Johnson & Johnson due to blood clotting fears.
Mkhize said government remains in talks with the pharmaceutical giant on the issue of vaccine safety and the right time to restart inoculations.

The news came a day before Mkhize announced that the country secured a further 10 million Covid-19 Pfizer vaccines.
Speaking during his inspection, Mkhize says consultations are still ongoing.
"As soon as that is done we hope to resume those processes. We don't have a date yet but, it will be a matter of days," Mkhize reiterated.
Mkhize also gave an assurance that government negotiated the issue of the country's sovereign assets out of the vaccine contracts.
