Storm damages N4 near Machado interchange
Motorists have been warned to avoid the N4 route between Dalmanutha and Machado interchanges after the road was severely damaged by a hailstorm.
TRAC N4 Toll Route spokesperson Solange Soares says they are still assessing the damage.
"The adverse weather caused the Winnaarspoort river to flood, causing the N4 to be overtopped and temporarily closed. This was an exceptional event and deposited debris on the roadway, which unfortunately caused damage to the new road surface.”
Soares says while they have implemented measures to assist with traffic, there may be delays.
This section of the road was recently upgraded.
