Suspect killed, police officers airlifted in Tshwane gun battle

Two police officers were airlifted to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg after a shootout near the Tshwane District Hospital on Wednesday.
At least one suspect was declared dead on scene.
Best Care Ambulance Services spokesperson Xander Loubser says it is unclear what exactly led to the shooting, but police were on scene.
“We were called out to an incident where there was a mass shootout incident between police and suspects close to the Tshwane District Hospital in Pretoria East.

“On arrival we found a lot of patients on scene believed to be police officers and suspects only. We cannot confirm if there were any bystanders that were injured during the shootout.”
It is not yet known how many police officers or suspects were injured.
“The amount of injured or gunshot victims is unknown but there are more than five people who were shot,” says Loubser.
The injured suspects were taken to Steve Biko Hospital.
