Suspect possibly linked to Masilela murder in custody
A suspect has been taken in for questioning following the murder of actor Dumi Masilela.
Gauteng police have confirmed to Jacaranda FM News that a man is being held in police custody.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the man has not been formally charged.
However, he says during the investigation it had been established the suspect is wanted for hijackings in Mpumalanga.
There has been widespread confusion about the arrest.
Rhythm City actor killed in attempted hijacking
On Saturday, Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina announced at the Rhythm City actor's funeral that arrests had been made.
"We have been informed by the EMPD that suspects were apprehended with the help of the community and handed over to the SAPS," he confirmed.
However, police refuted these claims when approached for comment at the weekend.
Masilela was shot during a botched hijacking in Tembisa on Wednesday 2 August.
He later died in hospital.
