Suspect questioned over rape and murder of girl (13)

Mpumalanga police have taken a suspect in for questioning in connection with the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Emzinoni township near Bethal on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi says the child failed to return home after she was sent to a nearby shop.
A community search ensued and her body was only found at a dumping site on Monday morning.
"We were alerted on Monday that there was a body of a 13-year-old a girl who was dumped at a dumping site so went there.

"Further investigation revealed that she was sent on Sunday morning 10 o’clock to buy something at a particular shop and the shop owner did confirm that she did arrive at the shop but did not arrive at home. A search ensued by community members."
Hlathi is unable to confirm whether the man is the official suspect.
"We are still busy with investigations and though we have taken in someone for questioning but we are still busy going up and down to make sure we get the relevant suspect or even confirming that this one as thee suspect who committed this atrocious act."
