Suspected drug mule set to appear in Kempton Park court
A 29-year-old suspected drug mule is expected to make his first appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The man was arrested with drugs worth R2.15 million at OR Tambo International Airport.
The suspect was arrested by crime intelligence at the airport over the weekend.
Hawks spokesperson Philani Nkwalase says the suspect was travelling from Brazil to Johannesburg when he was arrested on arrival.
“He was escorted to customs for processing after he had been refused entrance into the country by the Department of Home Affairs.
“His bag was searched by customs officers and they found cocaine soaked and dried into the traveler’s rug weighing 8.6 kilograms worth approximately R2.15 million.”
