Taxman open for business on Saturdays
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
The South African Revenue Service (Sars) will be open for business on Saturdays during the month of October to help with the filing of income tax returns.
The various branches will be open from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
The closing dates for filing personal income tax returns are October 31 for provisional and non-provisional taxpayers who file at a branch, December 4 for non-provisional taxpayers who use eFiling or the Sars MobiApp and January 31 for provisional taxpayers who use eFiling.
Sars spokesperson Siphithi Sibeko says the revenue service will offer limited assistance such as assisting individual taxpayers to register for and file on the MobiApp.
Sibeko says taxpayers must remember that those with a total income of less than R500 000 a year do not have to file a tax return.
