Thabo Bester set for virtual court appearance on Tuesday

Bester, who is known as the Facebook rapist, will appear in court virtually as he is already a convicted criminal.  

This will be Bester’s second appearance in court.

Bester and his alleged accomplice and lover Dr Nandipha Magudumana and six others are to make their first appearance together in court on Tuesday morning.

The seven are charged with aiding and abetting convicted murderer and rapist to escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year.

Bester was then rearrested in Tanzania in April and was returned to the country with Magudumana.

The court postponed the bail application of the five accused to give the defence time to go through evidence presented by the state last week.

Magudumana put her bail application on hold due to what her legal representative described as the emergence of crucial evidence.
