Theft at Nkandla hearing man's office

Thieves broke into the office of the man representing the 12 public servants accused of bypassing procedure during upgrades at President Jacob Zuma's home in Nkandla, Beeld reported on Tuesday.

Public Servants Association KwaZulu-Natal manager Claude Naicker's laptop was stolen on Monday -- the eve of the hearing.

Thieves managed to get past guards to his 11th floor office in Durban.

Naicker was sceptical over a link between the theft and his Nkandla-related work saying it was perhaps "five percent" possible as there had been other break-ins at the offices.

"But you never know," he said.

The hearing is related to the Special Investigating Unit's report on the R246 million upgrades to Zuma's private Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal.
