Three killed in Limpopo mob justice attack
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Police in Limpopo has condemned the brutal killing of three people by community members of the Ga-Wally village in Mokwakwaila, outside Tzaneen.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Matlafelo Mojapelo says a woman was reportedly screaming for help when an intruder allegedly got into a house of the elderly woman in the early house of Sunday morning.
According to Mojapelo, this sparked the community to mobilise and hunt for the suspected intruders.
"After accusing them of being responsible for house robberies in the area, the three were then brutally assaulted with an assortment of objects."
The police reacted to the frantic calls from the area, but they were met by the gruesome scenes at a blood spattered area and three badly assaulted victimes found dead.
"The crowd had, at this stage, already dispersed," says Majapelo.
He has urged the community not to take the law into their own hands, but rather call police.
"The police will be merciless in dealing with any people who take the law into their own hands by attacking people they suspect of being criminals."
