Three killed in Mpumalanga crash
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Three people have been killed and at least 17 others injured in a head-on collision involving two mini-bus taxis and a light delivery vehicle (LDV) in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.

The accident occurred early Friday morning between the R555 and Mandela Drive.
A Sprinter mini-bus and a Quantum mini-bus taxi collided head-on, with the LDV becoming involved shortly thereafter.
"The three deceased victims — two men and one woman aged between 33 and 43 — were passengers in the taxis," said Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi.
Most of the occupants were reportedly commuters from the Mhluzi township and were en route to work at a nearby mine.
"Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene. Fourteen people sustained serious injuries, including one driver, while three others — including the LDV driver — suffered minor wounds.
"Paramedics transported all the injured to hospitals in Middelburg for urgent medical attention," Mmusi added.
The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated. Traffic authorities have, however, not ruled out reckless and negligent driving.
