Gauteng police said three members of a taxi association were shot and killed in Soweto on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza said they responded to a shooting in the Mofolo area of Soweto at 8 am.
"It is alleged that a grey silver vehicle started shooting at the other vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, and killed three men," Kweza said.
"The incident is believed to be taxi-related. The victims all belong to a taxi association. All possibilities will be investigated."
She said that while investigations are ongoing, no arrests have been made.
The Johannesburg metro police warned residents to avoid Mahalefele Road and Nape Avenue in Mofolo Central, Soweto, after the shooting incident.
