Tiffany Meek appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates court on Friday.

The 31-year-old, shed tears during the court proceedings and shook her head when charges were read out in court.

In her bail affidavit, Meek said she intends to plead not guilty to all the charges, which are murder, defeating the ends of justice, crimen injuria, and obstructing the administration of justice.

The Jayden-Lee died in May this year after suffering blunt force trauma, according to police.

The body of Jayden-Lee was found naked and bruised at his residential complex in Fleurhof, west of Johannesburg.

Through her attorney Noven Naidoo, Meek denied abusing her child, saying she plans to hire a private investigator, because she believes the police are not doing their work properly.

"I have been seriously prejudiced by the allegations. I am going to leave no stone unturned to fight the charges and to indicate that the allegations are inaccurate and cannot be true,"

"I reiterate that I want to stand my trial and explain all circumstances which led to my arrest and to present evidence including expert evidence if necessary to dispute whatever allegations the State may make against me."

Meek said if released on bail, she will be at her father's house in KwaZulu-Natal during the course of the trial. She added that she is not a flight risk, and has no previous convictions.

"I do not have a passport which may enable me to leave the country. My safety would not be jeopardized by my release as I would be in the environment of my extended family at my father's home in KZN, as well as within a community where I am unknown,"

Meek told the court that her boyfriend's phone was confiscated by police as investigations continue.

She compared her case to that of missing Cape Town girl Joshlin Smith.

State prosecutor Olga Mapokgole said the state is opposed to Meek being released on bail.

The bail hearing was postponed to Monday for the state to respond to the defence application.
