Tito Mboweni wants your 'scientific ideas' on how to improve SA's finances
Updated | By Christelle du Toit
Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni has asked South Africans for their "scientific ideas" on how to turn around the economy of the country.
On Tuesday SA's top diplomat, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco), Naledi Pandor said South Africa is facing its biggest challenges since 1994.
In her address to the South African Heads of Missions Conference in Pretoria, she said: "We need to make good on our promise to do better."
She said the country has degraded over the past 26 years, both politically and economically.

Mboweni is set to deliver the country's Budget Vote in February after the President has delivered his State of the Nation Address (Sona).
In a Tweet on Tuesday, he said: "I suppose that my request from you ALL are scientific ideas on how we can do things differently to get unto a higher real GDP growth trajectory. Our country is in need of that. Not slogans! [email protected]. How to engender more jobs. Good talking."

Social media users immediately started responding to his request for input, albeit not via email ad requested, with many saying corruption needed to be addressed for South Africa to grow.
1. Eradicate corruption on SMME’s funding. We have capable entrepreneurs who are able to participate and grow the economy, but can’t get funding for their businesses because they don’t have political connections.

2. Pay SMME’s on time, late or none payments kills small business.
