TMPD monitoring Ladium protest
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says the situation in Laudium, south-west of Pretoria, is calm following this morning’s service delivery protest.
The protest started in Itereleng next to Ladium, with the community blocking the entrance to the township with burning tyres.
Police say reports that a man had died are false.
Tshwane MMC for Human Settlements Mandla Nkomo says residents are protesting over a lack of electricity.
“The community says it was promised electricity that was supposed to be done early this year and they are demanding the electricity. I addressed the community and we agreed a committee will meet with them tomorrow morning to discuss their demands,” says Nkomo.
