TMPD vehicle overturned by protesters
A Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) vehicle was overturned by protesters in Hatfield on Monday afternoon.
According to TMPD, three officers were patrolling the area when they came across a group of protesters on the corners of Beckett and Francis Baard Streets.
"When they approached that intersection, they were confronted by the protesters who started throwing stones at our members," TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba said.
The protesters reportedly took to the streets following the announcement that former cabinet minister Thoko Didiza will stand as ANC mayoral candidate for the City of Tshwane.
Mahamba said the vehicle was overturned after the officers fled to safety.
