Russian President Vladimir Putin warned world leaders it was "too early to engage in complacency," as the economic recovery remains weak.
Hosting the Group of 20 leaders, representing the world's largest economies, Putin praised the work done by the group since the financial crisis of 2008-09.
"On the whole the G20 has presented its capability to address very delicate situations. Thanks to the measures taken the situation has drastically improved," he said through a translator at the Constantine Palace outside St Petersburg.
He called on leaders to continue to undertake structural reforms aimed at reducing ongoing economic risks, such as high rates of debt in developed nations.
