Tough talk from Tshwane Community Safety MMC ahead of festive season

The MMC for Community Safety in Tshwane Grandi Theunissen has warned motorists who are planning to drink and drive during the festive season.

Theunissen was speaking at the launch of the festive season road safety campaign at the Carousel Plaza on Friday.

 

“The city has a zero tolerance to drinking and driving. Motorists you are warned if you are caught you will pay and take the consequences.” 

 




Thousands of motorists are using the N1 north as they make their way to their various holiday destinations ahead of the festive season.

Some 1500 people died on the country’s roads during the previous December and January.

 

Gauteng accounted for 231 fatalities. 

 

Theunissen says any motorist found breaking the law will pay the penalty. 

 

“People do funny things and they like to break the law. But you are there to enforce the discipline and do it in a courteous manner and always do the best and see yourselves as servants of the community.”
