The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has warned against major traffic disruptions around the FNB Stadium precinct this Saturday, as thousands of fans head to the Travis Scott Circus Maximus World Tour Concert.
The highly anticipated show kicks off at 8:30 PM and is expected to end around 11:00 PM, with early arrivals expected from as early as 9:00 AM. Gates open at 4:00 PM.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says full road closures will be implemented from 11:00 AM to ensure smooth traffic management and safety around the venue.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the FNB Stadium area and to make use of alternative routes or public transport options. All authorised vehicles will be granted controlled access."
Several major roads will be closed, this includes the Soweto Highway between Mentz Street and the N1 Offramp, the Golden Highway between Ring 1 and the Soweto Highway, Nasrec Road between Recreation Road and Shaft 17 Road, and the Booysens Reserve Road between Crownwood Road and League Avenue.
JMPD has encouraged concert-goers to use Park and Ride facilities from several malls, including Sandton City, Mall of Africa, Menlyn Park, and Montecasino, among others. Secure parking and shuttle services will be provided to and from the stadium.
Public transport options such as the Gautrain will also operate at increased frequency between Park Station and FNB Stadium, while e-hailing services will have a designated drop-off and pick-up zones near the venue.
Fihla says officers will be deployed to manage congestion and ensure the safety of all attendees and residents in the area.
