The driver of a truck died during a crash on the N1 north between Allandale Road and the Buccleugh Interchange early on Thursday morning.
It is reported that the truck lost control, crossed the barrier and ending up on the Southbound side.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson, Wayne Minaar, says the truck was travelling from Zambia to Gauteng.
"A truck collided with a pole on the N1 before 6 am this morning,” says Minnaar.
The truck was transporting scrap metal from Zambia to Gauteng. There is a lot of scrap metal affecting 3 lanes," adds Minnaar.
The truck driver who had been ejected in the crash had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. https://t.co/mQPozbaMbo #ArriveAlive #MidrandCrash @Netcare911 pic.twitter.com/YYuzbSNIQC
