Tshwane ‘aware and dealing’ with refuse collection backlog

The City of Tshwane on Friday said it is working to address the delays in the collection of refuse bins.

The city attributes the no-collection of refuse to the EFF-led national shutdown that took place on Monday.

Spokesperson Selby Bokaba says service providers could not render services due to safety issues.

“The City of Tshwane would like to inform residents that it is aware of the non-collection of refuse bins and is working hard on addressing the delays. The delays are attributable to the recent national shutdown that occurred earlier this week. As a safety precaution, most of our service providers could not render services on the day.”

Bokaba says residents are urged to place bins outside their places of residence for collection.

“All the regions of the city. with the exception of region 5 and 7 are severely affected. Residents of other affected regions are requested to put their bins outside before 7am until Saturday, 26 March 2023, for collection by our waste trucks.”
