Tshwane to probe Govender qualifications
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The City of Tshwane has instituted an investigation into the qualifications of it head of emergency services Previn Govender.
The City of Tshwane's Selby Bokaba says Govender's qualifications were sent to South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for verification before he was appointed in the position.
"SAQA came to us with a verification certificate, so we had to reason to doubt that there was anything untoward about his qualification," says Bokaba.
Bokaba says the city was made aware that something might be amiss with Govender’s qualifications on Sunday afternoon.
He adds proper processors were followed in hiring Govender and it will be improper to pre-empt the outcome of the investigation.
Bokaba says the city manager will be given a report when the investigation has been concluded.
