Tshwane warns water supply 'remains under severe strain'
The City of Tshwane has warned that its water distribution network remains under severe strain amid low inflows from Rand Water.
In a statement on Wednesday, the city said the issue is being compounded by high customer consumption.
On Wednesday, the Soshanguve L and Mabopane reservoirs were empty, with officials monitoring the two closely.
Other main reservoirs, including Pretoriusrand, Klipgat, Kruisfontein, and Mabopane, remain critically low, while the Soshanguve DD Reservoir is stable but also at low levels.

The Laudium and Atteridgeville HL reservoirs, which had been depleting rapidly on Tuesday, have now stabilised and are performing within acceptable levels.
It must be emphasised that the persistent high consumption levels are negatively impacting the recovery process of the affected reservoirs,” the city’s Selby Bokaba said.
“We are once again imploring customers to reduce their consumption levels to save the city’s distribution network from collapsing. The city will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as conditions change.”
