Two gunned down in Mitchells Plain 'gang violence'

Two men have been shot outside the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court in Cape Town shortly after attending their court appearance on Monday.

One of the victims was killed in the shooting, while the other man was wounded.

Western Cape police believe the shooting may be gang related.

"Four armed males surprised them and fired numerous gunshots. One man did not survive the onslaught on his life whilst another was admitted to a nearby hospital with serious gunshot wounds," said provincial police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi.

"The motive for this murder and attempted  murder is believed to be gang related. The suspects fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested."

Meanwhile, police have also launched a manhunt for three suspects who allegedly shot and killed three people in Eerste Rivier on Sunday.

The shooting is also suspected to be gang-related.

On Friday, a three-month old baby was shot an killed in another gang-related shooting in Bonteheuwel.
