Two words to describe Fashion Week: Orapeleng Modutle

Hundreds of Joburg fashionistas braved the cold to see what their favourite local designers had in store for them. 

I could only attend the show on Friday and was determined to see what this year's Fashion Week had in store for me.

First on the runaway, was local designer Orapeleng Modutle of Style Avenue. 

To be honest, I had only ever heard of him but never seen his work until the first model took to the ramp. 

Draped in a cream dress with frills, I couldn't help but wonder if this show would be centred on wedding dresses.

I really didn't know what to expect because the first garment took my breath away.

I was sure there would not be a garment that would surpass the one I had just seen.

But Style Avenue did not disappoint at all.  From the white dresses, to the red gown and the maxi dresses, there was certainly something for everyone.

Style Avenue was hands down the best showcase of Friday night.

Modutle says his collection by inspired by Maleficent. 

I didn't expect much from Khosi Nkosi, but there was truly something comforting in her collection. It is possibly the most accessible of them all.

Khosi Nkosi's collection has always catered for the average South African women, no matter the body type.

I think everyone has seen Khosi Nkosi's collection, we know what to expect and we are also in touch with her ambassadors. Be that is it may, I wasn't deterred by wanting to see her collection. 

Celebrity presenter, wife and mother Zizo Tshwete says Khosi Nkosi's clothes represent women of all shapes and sizes.

If what I saw on Friday is anything to go by, I am excited by the calibre of local designers as well as what the future holds for the South African fashion industry.
