Law enforcement officials have recovered two AK-47 rifles and two handguns at Solo restaurant in Sandton following a deadly shootout on Thursday night.
Three people were killed and four others wounded after a group of armed men attempted to force their way into the establishment.
Two bodyguards were declared dead at the scene, while five victims, including a businessman, two patrons, a CPF member, and a security guard, were rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
The businessman later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man responsible for initiating the shooting had previously been arrested for a similar incident at another Sandton establishment.
Gauteng police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder.
In response, the restaurant's management confirmed the security breach and reiterated that the safety and well-being of its patrons remain their top priority.
“We maintain a strict no-weapons and no-violence policy at our restaurant,” it said in a statement.
“We extend our sincerest thoughts and prayers to the innocent parties who were injured during the incident. We wish them a speedy and full recovery.”
