Vodacom: We have reduced our data prices by 50%

Telecommunications giant Vodacom says they have slashed the prices of their data by approximately 50% since 2016.
Vodacom says the delay in the allocation spectrum should be blamed for the rate at which data prices have fallen.
The company reacted to a Competition Commission report which found that it must reduce their data prices in South Africa by at least 30%.

Spokesperson Byron Kennedy says they have reduced the price of their data by approximately 50% since 2016.
Kennedy believes the commission’s Data Services Market Inquiry downplayed the role of spectrum in reducing data prices.
Kennedy thrown their weight behind Icasa’s opinion that spectrum is critical “to achieving cheap, high quality mobile broadband”.
