Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
South Africans will wait with bated breath for President Cyril Ramaphosa to deliver a national address on Sunday evening amid concerns over a spike in Covid-19 infections.
Ramaphosa will take to the podium for a ‘family meeting’ at 8pm for the first time since September.
This comes amid news of a new variant first discovered in southern Africa recently.
The Omicron variant is believed to be behind the increase in infections in Gauteng and other parts of SA.
Experts have warned of possible harsher lockdown restrictions in a bid to arrest the spike in infections.
