WATCH: Ramaphosa's election has 'put us on a pedestal of hope' - Madonsela
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says the election of Cyril Ramaphosa as state president has placed South Africa on "a pedestal of hope".
She was speaking at the launch of a collaboration between her foundation, Khulisa Social Solutions, Constitutional Hill and Stellenbosch University.
The aim of the collaboration is to create dialogue and solutions that will help end social injustice.
"But a pedestal of hope is just a pedestal, it gives us higher ground to jump onto the next place. It's not a summit. It will take all of us joining hands with the President and governing parties in all provinces, to build a South Africa of our dreams," says Madonsela.

Madonsela says we cannot look at government and say we do everything.
"From government we want diligence, we want integrity, we want fairness but we will play the part to make sure we close the gap," she adds.
Madonsela also welcomed the resignation of former President Jacob Zuma.
