[WATCH] RTMC probing traffic cop assault video
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) is investigating a video in which a motorist is assaulted by what is believed to be a traffic officer.
In a video circulating on social media a motorist, driving a Bentley, can be seen slapped by a person wearing a traffic police uniform.
The alleged assault is believed to have happened in Hartbeespoort in North West.
RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane says the investigation has begun.
"The Road Traffic Management Corporation has noted with concern a video circulating on social media in which a man wearing what looks like traffic officer's uniform is seen viciously assaulting a motorist.
“This is nothing but an act of pure criminality and thuggery. Such behaviour is completely unacceptable and deserves the strongest censure. Some information has been obtained but the corporation is following all leads to obtain more details and verify,” says Zwane.
