Zondi was reported missing by UKZN's Risk Management Services on Friday.

Nzimande was allegedly caught while burning the body in the bushes on Saturday evening.

In the video that's been widely circulated, the accused is being questioned by campus security about the incident.

The suspect said he doused his roommate with paraffin and set him alight, describing him as a zombie that should not be buried.

Nzimande will remain in custody for further investigations for his bail application - which include verification of address and medical examination.

The case has been remanded until October 21 for a formal bail application.
