Law enforcement in the Western Cape destroyed at least 20 000 litres of booze on Monday.
Truckloads of alcohol was confiscated from illegal establishments during police search and seizure operations in Cape Town between mid-October 2021 mid-December.
Police Minister Bheki Cele and National Commissioner Khehla Sitole joined officials on Monday as dozens of bottles were poured down the drain.
“We’ll continue to do that and we’ll continue to stop every and anything that is done illegally,” said Cele.
Cele also hailed law enforcement’s clean-up operations after large consignments of drugs were intercepted on major routes in recent months.
The N1 between Gauteng and Cape Town remains a hotspot for drug busts.
“Thanks Western Cape, you have collected a lot of drugs.
“There have been good operations, we’ve found a lot of them and those drugs were coming down here to cause a lot of destruction,” he added.
He called on the men and women in blue to make the lives of criminals tough over the festive holidays, with law enforcement expected to double up on policing across the country.
