New Minister for Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has vowed to make ‘spinning’ one of the biggest sports in South Africa.
The Patriotic Alliance leader was appointed as a minister by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday evening.
The PA is one of 11 parties that form part of the new government of national unity.
‘Spinning’ is a South African motorsport that involves driving cars at speed in circles and performing stunts in and out of the car.
In a video making rounds on social media, Mackenzie said that ‘spinning’ and ‘stance’ are not crimes.
‘Stance’ is a style of modifying cars which emphasises lowering their suspension.
"Spinning and stance is not a crime, and you are going to see,” McKenzie said.
"I am so excited because I promised that spinning shall be recognised and I am going to keep that promise. I am going to make spinning one of the biggest sports in this country.
"We are going to stop gangsterism with sports.”
