[WEATHER] SA shivers in the firm grip of an intense cold front

The South African Weather Service has issued an advisory for frost expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, in place over the North West, Free State, Gauteng, the central and northern parts of the Eastern Cape, Highveld of Mpumalanga and western and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Gauteng: Morning frost in places, otherwise fine and cold.

Mpumalanga: Morning frost in places over the Highveld and along the escarpment where it will be very cold, otherwise fine cold to cool. It will be partly cloudy in the extreme east from the afternoon.

Limpopo: Partly cloudy in the east where it will become cloudy with morning and evening fog patches in places along the northern escarpment, otherwise fine and cool.

North West: Fine and cold to cool.

Northern Cape: Partly cloudy over the southern interior at first, where it will be very cold, otherwise fine and cold. Morning frost expected over most parts. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly.

Western Cape:  Cloudy and cold becoming partly cloudy but fine over the interior and south coast, from the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate westerly to south-westerly, reaching fresh at times, becoming light to variable this evening.

Eastern Cape: Severe frost in the north during the morning, otherwise fine and cold, becoming partly cloudy from the morning. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to north westerly, becoming light to moderate south westerly to westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: Partly cloudy in the north otherwise fine and cold but very cold over the south-west. The wind along the coast will be Fresh south to south-westerly, moderating from the south in the afternoon.
