Weather Service warns of severe thunderstorms
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned of possible severe thunderstorms in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga this evening.

Forecaster William Msimanga says the weather alert has been upgraded from a weather watch to a warning.
"We are expecting the thunderstorm to produce large amounts of hail, strong winds and localised flooding throughout the affected areas."
He says the storms will persist throughout Tuesday evening.
"We will monitor the situation and I can confirm that we are not expecting any storms tomorrow," says Msimanga.
City Power has notified residents of Johannesburg and surrounding areas that the storm could affect electricity supply.
"We have placed teams of technical personnel on standby to deal with any possible power interruptions," says spokesperson Sol Masolo.
