West Rand pupil ran over by school bus
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has confirmed the death of a pupil who was run over by a school bus on Thursday.
The boy was in grade 6 at Mphe-Thuto Primary School in Mogale City on the West rand.
It is understood that the pupils were fighting inside the bus when the boy fell out of the moving vehicle.
The bus then ran over the boy.
"Department officials have visited the learner’s home to pay their respects and our psycho-social team will be dispatched to the school on Friday to provide the necessary support,” said Lesufi.
“We are utterly devastated by this tragic incident and we wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family and school community at large.”
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
