Western Cape hit by localised flooding
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
Heavy rain in the Western Cape led to localised flooding in some areas on Monday.
Motorists on the R44 at the Mooiberge Farm Stall in Stellenbosch had to be directed around the water as a cold front settles in.
The cold front in the province has brought about heavy rains and strong winds.
The City of Cape Town's disaster risk management spokesperson Charlotte Powell says no major incidents have been reported, although emergency services remain on high alert.
Forecaster at the South African Weather Service Mbavhi Maliage says the country’s interior won’t be as badly affected.
“We are not expecting this rainfall to spread over into the interior. However, it will start getting colder as from Wednesday so the inner regions will be mainly affected by the cold air behind the cold front, and maybe some light rain but nothing of concern to the public.”
