Who will make the cut in Ramaphosa’s Cabinet?

Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema has warned President Cyril Ramaphosa against deploying 'constitutional delinquents' into his cabinet.

Malema was speaking at Loftus Stadium ahead of the presidential inauguration where speculation was rife over the appointment of cabinet members.

"We don't care who's the President. All we care about is are you honourable enough to sit with us in Parliament as honourable members,” said Malema. “Once you are dishonourable like Pravin, you can't sit in that parliament because the EFF will not allow constitutional delinquents to sit in parliament."

On Friday the public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane ordered that Ramaphosa act against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan for violating the constitution.

This follows an investigation into allegations of maladministration and impropriety against Gordhan, for the approval of former South African Revenue Service deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay's early retirement with full pension benefits.

"The EFF is going to defend this report of public protector against Pravin. It must be implemented, the president must respect the chapter 9 institutions and tell Pravin 'do an honourable thing and tell South Africa you are not available," said Malema.

Malema adds that if Gordhan is included in the new cabinet, Ramaphosa will be much like his predecessor, former President Jacob Zuma.

"You will know that he is also a constitutional delinquent, which has got no respect for the constitution."

Meanwhile, African National Congress (ANC) elections head and former Minister, Fikile Mbalula, would not be drawn on speculation regarding a possible Cabinet position for himself, or on the possibility of a new, female deputy President of the country.
